Kreis Kassel

The Landkreis Kassel is one of the five counties in northern Hessen. It is responsible administrative authority and as well policy and decision maker. The total area of the county is 1.293 km² with 235.813 inhabitants (2015) in 29 municipalities.

The Landkreis Kassel is responsible for all tasks regarding the care and integration of refugees in its region. We have approximately 4.300 refugees living in our district. The Landkreis runs about 34 homes for refugees and has built up a network of voluntary engaged people to help the refugees. The Landkreis employs own staff to support the refugees in all areas of life. Especially the integration in the labor market or education system is really important. That is the reason why the county employs an Integration Manager to support the refugees to find a traineeship or regular employment.

The Landkreis Kassel is as well working in several other EU-projects and especially in three other projects which are focused on the integration of refugees.
